The STABLE RATE LINKAGE geometry of the brake lever allows for one of the lowest force applied to power applied ratios in the industry. More Power, less effort.
To ensure that braking force never degrades despite even the strongest force applied to the lever the Kevlar reinforced hose resists expansion and increases overall power and efficiency.
The KingPin design is a structural pad retention bolt that reinforces the caliper, and thus increases power, while keeping the pads in place.
PERFORMANCE: Fight the Trail, not your brakes
Dominion level performance derives from not only raw stopping power but through creating a system that inspires greater confidence and an overall better experience in the saddle .
Most solutions from other brands use bushings to facilitate the movement of the lever, the Hayes Dominion uses sealed bearings to require as little force as possible to actuate the brake, offering best-in-class, low friction tactile feedback to the user.
The piston glide ring, a technology first used in suspension forks, contributes to even smoother actuation.
CUSTOM PERFORMANCE: One Brake, Adaptable to Your Needs
Power, modulation, feedback and lever feel all improve the rider experience and inspire confidence, but the brake must also conform to riders’ physical needs and wants to feel like a perfect extension of the athlete.
By incorporating a patented tool-free reach adjustment the engineers at Hayes were able to deliver one single solution that can easily be adapted to every rider’s needs.
Although the Dominion is tuned at the factory for immediate pad engagement, through the use of a tool the system can be adjusted to add the desired amount of dead stroke (how much action is required on the lever to engage pads toward the rotors)
CONSISTENT, RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE: UNWAVERING PURE PERFORMANCE
The best performance in the world is great but ultimately not worth much if you can’t guarantee consistency of that performance. An athlete needs no surprises and above all other components, his or her brakes need to represent a constant, dependable performance.
Hayes didn’t develop the Dominions to hit an amazing performance metric every now and again, but rather put as a priority the reliability of the performance first and then began to increase absolute performance once its calling card reliability could be guaranteed.
The Dominion incorporates an aluminum master cylinder piston, as aluminum offers a great deal of consistency and functions smoothly across operating temperatures.
DOT 5.1: the decision to use DOT 5.1 was made to ensure consistency as it is viscosity-stable across operating temperature range in addition to having the highest wet boiling point of all bicycle brake fluid options available on the market. DOT 5.1 is also perhaps the most regulated brake fluid on the planet, found on every corner of the globe and is consistent from region to region and brand to brand. In other words, no matter where in the world you find yourself, no matter what brand of fluid you find, your performance is guaranteed as no variables are present amongst DOT 5.1 offerings.

CROSS OVER TECH
The double bleed port, Two Stroke, on the caliper allows for caliper only bleeding and is paramount in guaranteeing a highly functional system, free from any impurities or air.

KINGPIN PAD RETENTION BOLT
The KingPin design is a structural pad retention bolt that reinforces the caliper, and thus increases power, while keeping the pads in place.
Crosshair Caliper Alignment

The Crosshair Caliper Alignment system allows for perfect milllimetric adjustment of the calipers, ensuring precise and perfect alignment with zero guess work. Expanding on our award-winning Dominion A4. Our newest brake, Dominion A2, targets Cross Country and Trail riders. Dominion A2 features a two-piston caliper. Dominion A2 includes all the performance from the Dominion A4, utilizing a compact, two-piston caliper. With the SFL option, the Dominion is the ideal brake option for any rider with smaller hands. Hayes product development team set out to design a brake system specifically designed for a smaller ergonomic profile.
Dominion SFL maintains all the power and feel of our proven Dominion A4, and accomplishes this using a specifically designed smaller and narrower brake lever. Dominion SFL can be used in conjunction with either our Dominion A2 two-piston caliper or our Dominion A4 four-piston caliper. With optional lever sizes and two caliper choices, Dominion from Hayes Disc Brake now offers a brake that’s ideal for your application.
Dominion A2 features the proprietary QuickBite² system for fast and consistent burnish, coupled with our D-Series rotor to manage the heat with less braking noise.

Dominion’s master cylinder is factory tuned for the shortest dead stroke possible and a crisp bite point. The Dominion A4 caliper utilizes four pistons in the most structurally rigid design possible. It features a cold-forged caliper and KingPin structural pad retention bolt that increases stiffness.
With a motorsports-inspired Two-Stroke dual port bleed system, industry-leading DOT 5.1 fluid and Kevlar hose, the hydraulic system is engineered for ultimate performance across all temperatures and easy maintenance.
